There was a packed house at this year's Warband gathering as eight contestants battled for supremacy over the hills and valleys of Cincinnati. Participants of all ages brought their expertly painted Hordes of the Things armies to run in this highly aggressive and bloodthirsty tournament.

Following up the DBA "Wars of Aggression" style, HOTT players were rewarded not only for destroying their opponent's forces, but also for the losses sustained in the combat. Carnage was the word of the day as players sought to slaughter both friend and foe on the tabletop.

With no set time limits on games and no set number of rounds, it was to every player's advantage to play quickly (and recklessly) wherever possible. Most everyone managed to get six full games (the maximum), and everyone played in at least five.

Scores varied widely in each of the games, and with winning and losing taking a backseat to death and destruction players were able to move ahead in the ranks quickly, even with "spectacular losses." Pyrrhus would have been proud.

In the end, it was Cincinnati local Eric Vang who came out the victor by a healthy margin (and with only 5 games, to boot.) The ladies managed to secure the remainder of the field, with visiting Abby Potter taking second and Jenny Torbett coming in third, again with a significant point lead over the trailing gentlemen.

Due to a shortage of good pictures (a result of difficult lighting conditions), the pictures from the event also contain images from the DBA event held that morning.

It's always good to see such a good turnout for this local event, and I'd like to give out a special thanks to everyone who traveled from out of town to participate. The "Wars of Aggression" are always a fun, cathartic release for the participants and we look forward to seeing everyone again at Warparty and Origins in June!
