Gathered and Gaming!

As the Ohio summer crept once again upon us, the denizens of the midwest gathered to do battle in the great halls of Origins Game Fair in Columbus, OH.

Gathered 18 strong, new faces and old mixed again in one of the most enjoyable fantasy miniatures tournaments ever conceived.

Players brought or borrowed their 24 AP Hordes of the Things armies to the back of the miniatures hall, throwing down the dice and barking out challenges. Four full rounds were played using the Berkeley scoring system and the proposed 2.1 HOTT amendments.

The numbers of aerial figures were larger than usual, but for the most part the armies maintained a typical consist. Several groups of Orcs and Elves, as well as Aliens and Badgers were thrown into the mix, and even my flightless birds managed to make it out for the contest.

Druid's Children!
Dylan Fraser, 2009 Champion!

In the end, Dylan (and Tina) Fraser won after a hard-fought series of vicious battles. He took home what is likely the most beautiful Splintered Light Miniatures (www.splinteredlightminis.com) prize army to date - the "Druid's Children." Well over 24 APs, and splendidly painted, we are massively in his debt for his generous support over the years.

On behalf of Steve Sattler and myself, we would like to thank everyone who attended as well. It is your continued attendance and good spirit that makes this event such a joy to run every year. We hope to see everyone in September at Advance the Colors, where our last "Rolling Thunder" HOTT tournament of the season will be held. See you there!
