Tina Fraser, Mistress of Tattooine

A grand welcome was made to one and all at the HMGS Great Lakes flagship convention, Advance the Colors, in Springfield, OH! Contestants young and old, new and veteran alike threw their armies into the ring to battle for supremacy in the latest of our "Rolling Thunder" style competitions.

Run by the esteemed Eric Luczaj this year (winner at HordesParty '09), Eric has been extremely gracious to run the events at ATC the past few years, allowing me the chance to compete. Unfortunately, due to the length of another game I was running, I ended up not competing anyway.

Eric did a fantastic job running the event, and we had a steady mix of veteran players, players new to the event, and players for whom the ATC event is a particular opportunity.

The Pondering Loy

In a surprise ending, there were two undefeated players in the competition. With his stunning sweep and greater overall point score, Tom Graves masterfully managed to take the prize with Bob Boggs close on his heels.

Of specially worthy note was Mike Cole who came in right on the heels of the undefeated players, winning four out of his five games and earning nearly as many points as Tom. Spectacular finish for an often returning challenger.

Most everyone seemed to get in either three games or four, and as usual the event was a great way to cap off Saturday at an already fantastic convention.
